Schizophrenia is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by various symptoms such as disturbances in information processing and cognitive impairment.
Among the characteristics of this disease, NEUROFIT proposes models inducing cognitive disturbances (poor working memory, concentration troubles…) and hyperactivity (agitation).
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Phencyclidine is a NMDA receptor antagonist often used to produce schizophrenia-like symptoms in humans.
Neurofit implemented this model to induce locomotor hyperactivity which is widely used for the screening of antipsychotic drug candidates.

Compound testing
Antipsychotic drugs are usually tested in this model but other treatments could also be considered. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the feasibility of your study.
