Dysregulation of Schwann cells proliferation is linked to severe neuropathy such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome and various forms of demyelinating polyneuropathies affecting axons of peripheral nerves.

Schwann cells proliferation is required to ensure successful regeneration of damaged peripheral axons.
Schwann cells are essential for the maintenance of axonal homeostasis and the prevention of axonal degeneration via secretion of a variety of neurotrophins and also transfer essential molecules along the axons.

NEUROFIT offers culture of Schwann cell line as well as co-culture of primary Schwann cells – Sensory neurons in order to assess the potential of test compounds to protect, regenerate or repair peripheral nerves.
