ALLERGIC CONTACT DERMATITIS

  • Contact dermatitis is adverse cutaneous reaction resulting from direct contact with irritant or allergic substances.
    The skin reaction is an inflammation-driven process characterized by swollen itchy red rash or rough and dry skin.


    • OVALBUMIN model

      DTH is induced in female Lewis rats by subcutaneous injection of emulsion of ovalbumin/complete Freund's adjuvant. One week later, rats are challenged with injection of ovalbumin in the pinna ear.


    • OXAZOLONE model

      Oxazolone is an allergic contact dermatitis inducer resulting in a type I cytokine response.

  • OVALBUMIN model
    Delayed-Type Hypersensitivity (DTH) in Lewis rat



    Ear swelling induced by ovalbumin challenge is reduced by dexamethasone treatment

    Identification of anti-inflammatory / immuno-modulating drugs
